STEP UP FOR STEP FREE

A few words by the campaign founder Ian Cook:
I live in Flitwick, Bedfordshire and our railway station has no lifts at the moment, but we have been successful in the last Budget to be given funding for new lifts, the work should be completed by 2024, but we will monitor this.
I need to get to London on a regular basis, and will have to use two sets of steps to get to the platform, when I do get on the platform, a large gap and step to get on the train, has to be negotiated.
The Campaign started with Flitwick station, but I soon realised that over 40% of stations are not step free, so I decided to make it a UK campaign.
Since then I have started to find out a lot more about why the network is not step free and why the trains are not accessible. This is mainly down to MONEY.  The main excuse is that the infrastructure is Victorian, Queen Victoria died in 1901 and that was 118 years ago!
But still politicians from all parties, seem to ignore this. They have been talking about it for many, many years, but the time for talking is over! It is now time for action!
